December's list

MUSIC
Thanks to Maryam for the delights of this month's music. Be patient, Maryam, the world will one day see our special dance.

1) Presidente - KINKY. Singing in Spanish somehow makes everything sound sexier, even if he is singing about politics. Despite the oblique accusations of corruption against the Mexican president, this song is dance-floor hot and guaranteed to shake your booty. (I only use the word 'booty' online because in real life I would never get away with it.)
2) Let's Make Love And Death From Above - CSS. Bizarre title but the song works. Perfect for when returning to the home planet.
3) Ladylike - STORM LARGE & THE BALLS. They've got a name that is just dying for you to make dirty jokes about, but subject matter is serious to all girls who get the mickey taken out of them for not being 'ladylike.' Incidentally, Storm Large was one of the contestants on Rockstar: Supernova.

MOVIES
Surprisingly, I haven't watched many movies this month. No, I didn't bother watching Casino Royale or that cartoon, Happy Feet. The one movie I tried to watch, which was Ciplak, I was thwarted every time by the lack of screens showing it and by the fact that every cinema in the Klang Valley is stuck inside a heaving shopping mall with zero parking. Doesn't anybody work in KL? Why are the malls packed on a weekday afternoon? I cannot believe schoolkids have that much money to spend.

To escape the masses, I instead watched the very lovely Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki over and over on DVD. Catch them on the tv series, Supernatural. They are super. And natural. Rrrrrrrrrr.........

BOOKS
Since I was home at my parents' I have only been re-reading my dusty, yellowed old books. So I re-read my entire Star Wars collection (except the New Jedi Order, because that's boring), The Tawny Man Trilogy by Robin Hobb, odds and ends by Peter Straub, Dean Koontz, David Morrell, Robert Ludlum, L.M. Montgomery, Timothy Zahn and phewh, get this Barbara Taylor Bradford. All of which I could not bother to review because
a) they are old
b) there are over 2o books
c) I speed-read them
d) I'm lazy

That's only because I can't remember their names, KJ. Ask, Dikyam, I had to keep asking over and over the name of the band. Btw, i'm still listening to the old CDs you gave me.

Aaaaah, Jensen, you insist on hurting me. My friend here also admires you, and she's married.

Maryam, do you know that ITV2 here will be showing Supernatural season 2 soon? Aren't you jealous of me? I can have Dean all to myself.

Dude, since I'm close personal friends with Dean, I've already watched season 2 up till episode 9. episode 10 only starts on January 11 in the US. My, my I'm not only hot, I'm handy with computers too.

July 2007's list

Music 1. The View From Here (album) – TEMPERED MENTAL . They sounded good, honestly they did, when I went to see them at Laundry at the launching of their debut album a few weeks ago. Good vocalist, banging bass – I shuffled my feet a little – and I bought their album. Hey, it was going cheap at RM20 and I figured they needed to earn a living somehow. But on repeated listens, I realised that I don’t really like music like this anymore. Go back circa 1999 and I would probably be headbanging to their songs, along with all the other nu-metal music that were making waves then, but currently, I’ve gotta say no. Oooh, Tempered Mental might object to me calling them nu-metal but that’s what it sounds like to me. Good effort, but not my cup of tea. You can check them out on MySpace .
